Metro Arts Mayhem 2016. Vol. I

This summer I have had the privilege to work for Quad City Arts as a lead artist in their Metro Arts program.  For the last several weeks we have been working on creating a series of mixed media/found-object sculptures.  The competitive program is available for students ages 15-21.  If spending part of your summer vacation making artwork isn't cool enough, the apprentice artists (the students) get PAID for their work.

I won't ramble on too long about the blah-blah-blah of learning how to use power tools, or the blah-blah-blah of create interesting sculptures.  I'll just leave you with a few images of the work so far, and three words: Art. Fun. Paid.

Another lead artist, Sarah Robb, is working with a different group of apprentices painting benches which will be installed in The District of Rock Island (check out the District by clicking this link: http://ridistrict.com/).  Check out Sarah Robb's work by going to her website: www.robb-designs.com.  Here are some images of her group while they are working.

Join us on Thursday, July 14th, at the Figge Art Museum for the Metro Arts Showcase.
