Here is Kyklopes as I tackle the early stages of the canvas (laying down base colors, painting the carved wood letter blocks, etc.).
Kyklopes with all of the base colors in place.
The canvas is pretty juicy right now, so I will have time to do some sketches and try to figure out what I want the base layer of imagery/line work to be.
Now that Kyklopes is dry, I start adding the line work.
Including a few of my notes from my Theater Appreciation class I took over 20 years ago...
I still want to add a few more things here...
...and here...
...and here...
...and probably here as well.
More detail shots.
This is what everything looks like when you take a few steps back from the piece.
There is at least one area where I need to paint in the circle so I can paint a bunch of figures over it (it's waaaaaay easier than trying to paint around the figures later...).
I need to add some color. Here is my color palette for this layer (it will also make an appearance in another piece called Money-A-Tize).
Let us begin.
Next time we check in with Kyklopes, I will be adding some more line work and finishing the first layer of color(s).
